WIP Wednesday

I am very happy to finally have something to report for WIP Wednesday!  I have so missed participating, but things have been crazy around here lately.  Between taking care of the baby, potty training Hurst, and Easter not a lot of sewing has been going on here at My Fifteen Minute Break.  I'm hoping things will settle down this week.  Needless to say, if any of you more seasoned parents have advice on potty training please do tell!!

I'm still plugging away at my Super Nova Quilt.  I have decided to add an extra row and cut out three extra strip sets this weekend, but I haven't touched it since.  I'm hoping to do a little sewing tonight before bed.  I'm sure I won't be finished by May 12th with everyone else, but that's okay.  I'm in love with this quilt, so I really want it to be bigger.

I have so enjoyed working with this line!  Fortunately, even with the extra blocks I will still have plenty leftover!

I hope everyone else has had very productive weeks.  To see what everyone else is working on go to Lee's.

Sunday Stash Report

I missed last week's stash report, so I'll just combine it with this week.  It should be easy to do because last week I didn't sew or buy any fabric.  This week however I did buy a little for a mother's day present for my mother-in-law.  I know I could have used something from my stash for her, but when I heard about Minnick and Simpson's Charlevoix fabric line I KNEW she had to have a quilt from it!

To give you a little background, my husband's grandparents have a summer cottage in Northern Michigan and needless to say it is an important part of the family's history.  My husband took me one summer for vacation while we were still in school.  He said it was a vacation, but I'm pretty sure he was checking to make sure I liked it.  I couldn't have been the "one" if I hadn't!  Needless to say, I fell in love too!  When the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC gets to be too much we love to dream about our summer vacation!

Everyone else in the family loves Michigan too, but his mother loves it so much she named my husband Traverse after Traverse City, MI.  He was the most beautiful baby she had ever seen so she named him after "paradise on earth".  Like I said, these people LOVE this place!

When I saw the name of their new line, I went to look at it immediately.  When I read that one of the prints in the line was named "Traverse City Cherries" I knew it was perfect!!  I bought a layer cake and some yardage for binding.  I am going to use this tutorial from Moda Bake Shop.  I hope to have it completed by Mother's Day, but I do want to finish my Super Nova quilt first.  Right now I have way too many projects going at once!

If you are still reading this long-winded post, thank you.  Your reward is a picture of my beautiful fabric:

Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 9 yards
Added this week: 3.5 yards
Added YTD: 55.5 yards
Net used for 2011: -46.5 yards.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, and gets lots of sewing done!  I am hoping to maybe finish up the rest of my Super Nova quilt blocks today.  We'll see if the men in my life cooperate with me!!

To see how everyone else is doing with their stash, go to Judy's.

Friday Night Sew In: The Results

Well unlike last month I was able to accomplish quite a bit last night.  I think the trick might be getting the boys out of the house!  I was very proud of myself for actually sewing instead of taking a bubble bath or watching "girlie" stuff on tv or any other activity I enjoy doing when I am boyless!!  It was such a nice feeling!

I now have five of the first set of blocks together.  After the kids are asleep tonight I am going to try to finish more.  I can't decide if I should follow Lee's pattern exactly as written or if I should add another row and make the quilt a little bigger.  It would take a little longer, but I have the extra fabric and I think it would be more useable for us if it were bigger...I'll have to see how long it takes me to complete the nine blocks first before I decide to go bigger!

I think all of them are gorgeous, but this is my favorite:

I love the red and the gray and red print!  I think they are my favorites from the line!

I had such a great time and I would love to sew more right now, but little Graham is waking up from his little cat nap and I know he's going to be hungry!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Friday Night Sew In

The boys are off to dinner with Daddy,

and I have a long overdue date with my Super Nova Quilt Top.

I love you Friday Night Sew in!  I adore my family, but I am so excited to be alone in my own home!  I don't remember the last time this happened!

Sunday Stash Report

I can't believe another week has gone by!  Where does the time go?

I am very proud to say that I didn't buy any fabric this week!!  That is quite an accomplishment for me!  I also was able to fit in some sewing which is always good (and rare these days).  I still can't count anything as out yet because I don't count fabric as used until I have a completed top and then a finish.  It's easier for me to keep track of my used stash that way...

I was able to do a few more strip sets for the postage stamp quilt.  I'm now up to ten out of sixteen.  Slowly, but surely I'll finish this top eventually!!  I was also able to start working on the piecing for the Supernova quilt yesterday.  I think all projects are going to be set aside until this one is finished!  If my piecing skills are up to the task, this quilt is going to be gorgeous!!  I hope to post pictures of my progress soon!

Here are my numbers for the week:

Used this week:0 yards
Used YTD: 9 yards
Added this week: 0 yards!! (Yippee)
Added YTD: 52 yards
Net used for 2011: -43 yards.

To see how everyone else did this week, go to Judy's blog!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!  It always goes so fast!

Weekend Sewing

Hopefully by the time this weekend is over these:

will become quilt blocks!  Of course because I have so much free time and extra fabric, I'm thinking about adding a row to this quilt.  I am so in love with this design and the fabrics this quilt might need to live on my bed!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

If anyone is interested in making the Supernova quilt go to Lee's to check it out.  It's gorgeous!  It's not too late to join in the fun!
