WIP Wednesday

Happy WIP Wednesday!  As usual I was able to accomplish quite a bit this weekend, but once Monday rolled around my productivity slowed a great deal.  That being said I have made a good deal of progress on both my Christmas table runner and my Dr. Seuss quilt.

Dr. Seuss:

The top is complete and I finished piecing the back this afternoon, so tonight after Hurst goes to bed I will baste it (yuck, I hate basting!!).  I am still trying to decide how to quilt this one.  I will keep you posted!  I can't wait for it to be finished!  I love these fabrics!

12 Days o' Christmas table runner:

This one is at the same stage as the Dr. Seuss quilt.  The top is finished, the back is cut out, I just have to baste, quilt and bind it.  I am not going to consider this project a late project from 2010, I'm going to think of it as a head start for Christmas 2011!  I absolutely love this line of fabric and it makes me so excited for her new Christmas line coming out this year!  (Check out Flurry here if you haven't all ready!)  I love that my scraps from this project will hopefully go together with the new line!

I will, of course, post better pictures once both of these projects are complete.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been up to in my sewing nook.  Hope everyone had productive weeks!

I, too, detest basting. Love the Dr. Seuss top. Your table runner makes me wish my table had enough room for one!

Happy WiP Wed!

I thought of you this week whilst fabric shopping with my munchkin - we came across the Dr. Seuss bolts, and naturally, he started shouting about the Cat in the Hat on fabric and how he'd "never seen fabric like this before in my whole life!" (one of his favorite kinds of things to say at the moment). I broke down and bought a few FQ's, and I might just borrow your offset squares idea - I love it with those fabrics!!

And yes, I positively despise basting. Have you tried spray baste? I bought some for myself for Christmas, but haven't had the guts to try it yet. I hear it's seriously the best thing that's happened to quilting since the sewing machine...

Spray baste is wonderful.... I use Sulky and 505. Both are great. I used some Nancy Tailor and was not as pleased... but really...I don't know that I would quilt it not for this stuff.

Both your Christmas table runner and Dr Seuss quilts look great!

both of them very cute!

(I usually just use pins... but I don't use very many of them... I guess you could say I cheat!)

the Dr. Suess top is looking so cute! What about quilting it with the wavy line quilting that I used for my potholders? It was super easy and I love how it looks. Seems to go with the whole Dr. Suess theme too. : )

Thanks for linking up with WIP Wednesday! Have a great week!
